UAE space infrastructure developer Marlan Space and San Francisco satellite manufacturer Loft Orbital have launched Orbitworks—the Middle East’s first commercial satellite manufacturer. The new satellite manufacturing facility in Abu Dhabi will produce upwards of 50 satellites a year. The UAE-US venture is also building a new AI-powered network of 10 satellites for real-time Earth observation, driving space innovation and high-tech jobs across the Emirate.
Why This Matters
Orbitworks brings together Loft Orbital's expertise in satellite technology and Marlan Space's infrastructure capabilities, building on the UAE's deep ties to the US space sector. The venture delivers locally grown space infrastructure to the region, accelerating technology transfer, fueling job creation and opening new opportunities for cross-border collaboration in the rapidly evolving space industry.
“From the moment we first met with Marlan Space, we were excited about their vision for bringing scaled production and operations of LEO satellite constellations to the UAE. We are thrilled to support and partner with all players in the country’s space, satellite, cloud, and AI industries.” – Pierre-Damien Vaujour, CEO of Loft Orbital
