Equatys—a new joint venture between Abu Dhabi’s Space42 and American satellite giant Viasat—is tackling connection gaps worldwide. Using breakthrough satellite-to-device technology that enables standard smartphones to link directly to satellites, Equatys is anticipated to provide mobile service to more than 180 countries, reaching disaster zones, remote villages, open seas and other hard-to-reach areas. Commercial operations are set to launch in 2028.
