US-based aviation leaders Joby Aviation and Archer Aviation are developing an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for commercial use across Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The companies are on track for a 2026 commercial launch, marking the region’s first commercial air taxi services. Joby is partnering with Dubai authorities to build vertiports connecting Dubai International Airport to key city locations, while Archer is converting existing Abu Dhabi facilities like the Cruise Terminal into hybrid vertiports.
The UAE is one of Joby’s first international markets and Archer’s first primary location for commercial flights.
Why This Matters
The UAE’s work with Joby and Archer integrates advanced American aviation technology into the UAE’s transportation infrastructure, supporting the companies’ US-based manufacturing operations and driving American aviation innovation. Through the low emissions aircraft, the UAE and the US are supporting sustainable transport goals and showcasing the impact of American innovation on the future of mobility in the region.
