Microsoft is investing an additional $2 billion through 2030 across the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia — building on its $15.2 billion commitment to the UAE. The expanded investment, which includes over $400 million in connectivity infrastructure and undersea cables, covers AI and cloud infrastructure, digital resilience and AI upskilling. It also deepens Microsoft's engagement with UAE AI champions like G42 and advances joint initiatives including the Responsible AI Future Foundation and the AI for Good Lab in Abu Dhabi.
Why This Matters
Microsoft is deepening its UAE presence even amid regional uncertainty, underscoring a decades-long partnership that includes a $1.5 billion investment in G42. Together, the UAE and Microsoft are building the physical and digital infrastructure that keeps American technology at the center of the Middle East's AI economy — supporting sovereign US compute in the region, sustaining American jobs across the supply chain and demonstrating US leadership in advanced digital technologies.
“We’re sustaining all the investments we planned to make before this conflict started, and we’re in fact adding to them.” – Brad Smith, Microsoft Vice Chair and President
