Microsoft's investment in the UAE keeps growing. What started as a $1.5 billion strategic stake in UAE AI firm G42 in 2024 has since grown into a $15.2 billion investment in the UAE AI ecosystem. So far, the company has deployed $7.3 billion — including $4.6 billion in AI and cloud data centers — with $7.9 billion more planned from 2026 to 2029. Now Microsoft is expanding further, with an additional $2 billion committed across the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, deepening collaboration with G42, the Responsible AI Future Foundation and the Abu Dhabi AI for Good Lab.
Microsoft Vice Chair and President Brad Smith and Chief Data Scientist Juan Lavista Ferres share what Microsoft's $15.2 billion UAE investment means for US AI leadership.
Why This Matters
The UAE's early choice to back American AI makes it the natural destination for Microsoft's most ambitious international investments. "The need for AI is moving ahead quickly," explained Microsoft's Brad Smith. "That's why so much capital is being mobilized to address it." From data centers powering the region's AI economy to training world-class talent, Microsoft and the UAE have built an environment where American capital fuels local innovation and accelerates American technological leadership abroad.
